Jibran Karamat Film Blog (AS 2023)

 

 We knew we didn't like the way our product was turning out for our original idea, Maneater. The 2 shoots we did for it didn't end up very well when we reviewed the footage in editing. Mostly due to the lack of care taken when using the camera, many rules and techniques of film were ignored and our plot seemed boring the more we thought about it. We knew we could do better for our film so we ultimately decided to scrap the idea and work on another. After some brainstorming, we came up with a new plot for a film, a spy thriller called "Checkmate" about a secret agent closely following a mafia boss who she is assigned to kill. We knew the location already, the cafe from earlier and it had too good an atmosphere to leave it alone, so we decided we'd try and film our new idea there.  

 

 

 

 

  Film Opening Inspiration 1. Smile (2022) A recent horror film that released, directed by Parker Finn which had an amazing opening that served to set the mood for the entire film and create a terrifying enigma for the narrative to base off of. It was this film that made me realize I wanted to do a horror/mystery project of some sort even more than before.
